Hyde Park London 18th September 1976 Three of us went to this me Age and his younger sister Ann, who was mad about Queen at the time, me I was a fan of there early stuff but after BR left them alone I remember it being a hot day and me and Age had a thirst for the lager which I think was hard to find inside hyde park Supercharge was the first band on who were a bit of a comedy act the lead singer came out dressed as freddie white leotard except he was bald with a large beer gut, this got a laugh I can also remember at one point they said this is our laid back number which once started they all started
KIKI DEE STEVE HILLAGE SUPERCHARGE
to lay down on stage and play including the drummer funny at the time, I even went out and bought there album because of one track they played “She Moved The Dishes First” you can hear it on the player Steve Hillage was next think i might have fallen asleep when he was on seem to remember at the time thinking this was weird hippy music! Kiki Dee everybody thought that Elton might turn up as they had just had a hit with “Don’t Go Breaking My Heat” but all we got was a cardboard cut out of him. Queen where good Freddie being the showman but no real memories I think we even had to leave early to get the last train out of Fenchurch St
They reckon over 200,000 people where there. copied photos from Ukfestivals.com where you can see more and other comments about the day there was even a video done of Queen! Also see Queen 1986
